I bought the car from the second owner in 1990 with about 75,000 miles on it. He had owned the car for approx 20 years. It was originally Ontario Orange, with a 350 engine. I rebuilt the chassis from one end to the other. New control arm bushings, ball joints, tie rod ends, 1 1/4" front sway bar, all 6 universal joints, all rear wheel bearings, 3/4" rear sway bar, stainless steel sleeved brake calipers and master cylinder, stainless steel flex brake hoses, 4 shocks, and about every thing else you can think of. The body has never been removed from the frame. The 4 speed Muncie transmission and rear end are original and are matching number. The wheels are from a 1986 Corvette with the 8 1/2" front and 9 1/2" rear X 16" using Ecklers billet aluminum wheel adapters for the specific adaptation. The tires only have about 5,000 miles on them, but are about 12 years old. There was no sign of significant accident damage or rust of any kind. The car has been garage kept almost its entire life. The hood is from a 1973 Corvette, which I sectioned and raised to clear the carburetor/intake on the Big Block. The body was stripped to Gel-coat and painted black. The car has been driven approx 7,000 miles since the rebuild and has the normal small rock chips around the rear wheel openings that go along with that. There are also some minor areas in the finish where sunlight and age has blemished the finish, common to all fiberglass cars, this is only seem under fluorescent light and is not noticeable outside. Stainless steel luggage rack. The bumpers are new American made reproductions installed about 2 years ago. The interior and convertible top was also re-done in the early 1990's, with new carpet, door panel skins, and new full leather seat covers and seat foam. As shon in the pictures, it all still looks very nice. The heart of this beast is it's performance built 454 engine. It is a 4 bolt main block, bored 0.060 over, line bored, and decked, with a forged steel crank, ARP rod bolts, forged TRW LS6 pistons yeilding 10.1 : 1 compression ratio, double row timing chain, 8 quart box type oil pan with windage tray, Speed Pro plasma-ceramic rings and high volume oil pump, Comp Cams 294 solid lifter cam, lifters, and matching valve springs, open chamber oval port heads, stainless steel valves, 3/8" pushrods and guide plates, Harlin Sharp roller rockers, Cyclone headders, Eddelbrock performer RPM intake, Holley 800 CFM double pumper carburetor. It has a performance clutch and pressure plate. It has a Petronix electronic spark kit in the stock distributor, keeping the original tacometer drive, a MSD 6T ignition box, coil, and wires. It has an electric cooling fan with custom made shourd on the original aluminum radiator. I also have the original matching number bare engine block with the car, if someone wanted to go back to stock in the future. Deceber 28, 2007. |
